Multiple reports of bears accessing patios of Whistler homes

July 28, 2022 6:50pm

The Conservation Officer Service (COS) has received multiple reports of bears accessing 2nd and 3rd level patios of homes on Nordic Drive and Tantalus Drive searching for food.

The Whistler Daily Post is a new, independent online newspaper for Whistler. Please bookmark it for local news.

“Bears are excellent climbers with an even better sense of smell and are willing to go to great lengths to access food. Ensure that all BBQs are properly cleaned and stored and all attractants are managed correctly, even if they are not located on the ground floor,” cautions COS.

Please report sightings of bears around properties to the Conservation Officer Service at: 1-877-952-7277. Residents can report unsecured animal attractants to By Law Services by phone: 604 935 8280 or email: bylawservices@whistler.ca.
