Five rescued from vehicle burning off Lillooet Pioneer Road 40

Five people were taken to hospital after a vehicle caught fire after falling off a cliff off of Lillooet Pioneer Road 40. On May 7 at 2:20 am, Lillooet RCMP was called about a collision in which a vehicle was on fire and people were heard screaming.

Police say the incident happened when the vehicle drove off a 20 metre cliff, went airborne and then rolled to a stop and caught fire.

Police arrived to see a pickup truck on fire. Bridge River Fire department was already on scene and had also requested emergency health services to respond. The vehicle had 5 occupants at the time and all were taken to the hospital, though police didn’t provide any details on the nature of their injuries.

 

Man yelling at kids 

On April 27, at 3:30 am, a woman reported seeing a man at the Lilooeet skate park yelling at kids and alegedly brandishing a knife.  Police located him nearby and he told police he yelled at the kids because they were teasing him. He denied having a knife, and none was located.

On April 27, at 11 pm, a woman reported two people cutting branches with a machete and trying to allegedly break into the Cookhouse restaurant. Police located a man and a woman. The man said he was hired by Cookhouse to cut back the brush. Officers asked both to leave and come back later in the day. They agreed and left the area.
