Highway 1 in Fraser Cayon to close overnight

staff report
January 23, 2024 10:10am

The Province has announced that Highway 1 in Fraser Canyon will be closed overnight for bridge removal.

The temporary bridge at the Falls Creek (Jackass Mountain) construction site requires a full closure of Highway 1 overnight on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024.  The closure will be in both directions from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is working directly with emergency services to facilitate their access through the site during this time. This closure will affect drivers travelling between the Interior and Lower Mainland. However, drivers can take Highway 3 or Highway 5 as alternative routes.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure advises travellers to continue monitoring the forecast and visit the official website for information about the closure and road conditions on alternative routes. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure assures the public that the temporary bridge removal and closure are necessary to ensure the safety of drivers and construction workers.
