The countdown to “Whismas” is nearly over. Whistler Mountain Bike Park officially opens for the 2025 summer season on May 16, welcoming riders back to one of the world’s premier downhill biking destinations. Kicking off with the Fitzsimmons Zone, the early season promises epic terrain, adrenaline-fueled descents, and a vibrant start to summer in the Coast Mountains.
According to a recent Whistler Blackcomb blog update, the Fitzsimmons Zone will be the first to spin its lifts, offering riders access to some of the park’s most iconic trails. Early May conditions are expected to be prime, thanks to recent mild weather and preseason trail maintenance. Guests are encouraged to grab their Bike Park Passes, now officially on sale, to get the best access all summer.
While bikers gear up, winter enthusiasts can still get in their final laps. Blackcomb Mountain continues spring skiing and riding operations through May 19, giving visitors a rare chance to ski in the morning and bike in the afternoon—an experience uniquely Whistler.
Gondola operations resume mid-May for those visiting for the sights rather than the slopes. The Whistler Village Gondola and PEAK 2 PEAK will begin weekend sightseeing access on May 17, while the Blackcomb Gondola will operate May 17–19 for the Victoria Day long weekend before temporarily closing for maintenance until mid-June.
Whistler’s full Summer Alpine Experience is expected to be fully operational by mid-June, including the Peak Express, Cloudraker Skybridge, Raven’s Eye Lookout, and over 50 km of alpine hiking trails. The Whistler Bike Park is also on track to open by that time, providing access to all zones and terrain.
The transition from snow to dirt is one of Whistler’s most exciting seasonal shifts, drawing mountain bikers from around the globe. With trails, sightseeing, and alpine adventures lined up, May 16 marks more than an opening day—it’s the official start of summer in Whistler.
