Squamish RCMP is requesting anyone with information about the cause of a wildfire in the Dryden Creek area to contact the police.
In a press release, Squamish RCMP said it was notified of smoke on the hillside at the end of Tantalus Road on June 9, 2025, around 5:30 p.m. Squamish RCMP is working closely with BC Wildfire Service and Squamish Fire Rescue as it investigates the fire, which is now burning at 54 hectares.
Squamish RCMP said the fire is believed to have started around 4 p.m. on a bike trail at the end of Tantalus Road. Based on initial information, investigators suspect the fire was human-caused; however, the exact source and circumstances remain under investigation.
We believe there were individuals on the trail around the time the fire started who may have information,
says, S/Sgt. Gareth Bradley, Squamish RCMP. We encourage anyone who was out walking or hiking in the area to contact police, even if you think what you saw isn’t important. Sometimes the smallest detail can make a big difference.
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have information related to the fire to contact Squamish RCMP at 604- 892-6100.
