The Conservation Officer Service Predator Attack Team is in Pemberton after a woman was bitten by a black bear this morning.
The woman was walking along the Riverside Wetlands trail, a popular recreation area, shortly after 9:30 a.m. when she was charged and bitten by a bear. She received medical treatment for her injuries.
COS PAT specialists are examining the attack site and interviewing the victim as part of their investigation.
In co-ordination with the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, the trail has been closed. The COS is asking the public to stay away from the area.
The COS will provide further updates soon. The Conservation Officer Service is also urging the public to take precautions when hiking in the backcountry after a woman had an encounter with a black bear while hiking with her dogs near Smithers.
