Dine and dash customer nabbed by Whistler restaurant staff

Staff report
September 22, 2022 11:18am

On September 14, five out-of-town people dined and then ran from a restaurant in the 4300 block of Blackcomb Way.

Staff from the restaurant chased one of the men from the group to the back of the Whistler RCMP Detachment where police detained him for fraudulently obtaining food and beverages.

The restaurant did not wish to pursue charges if the culprits paid for their bill.  The man that was detained by Whistler RCMP returned to the restaurant and paid the bill.

Roadside prohibition for four Whistler residents

Over the last week, Whistler RCMP conducted impaired driving enforcement, including setting up road checks and patrols specifically to check driver sobriety. In one road check, officers assessed 50 drivers, and arrested one man for impaired driving under the Criminal Code after determining he was over two times the legal limit to drive.

Officers also issued four immediate roadside prohibitions under the Motor Vehicle Act.  Four of the five drivers are from Whistler.
