Do you have a dog who loves to chase geese? The Resort Municipality of Whistler is looking for you. The RMOW is seeking Geese Hazing Volunteers, an effective deterrence technique in the municipality’s geese management strategy. Over the past 10 years, the Canada Goose population in Whistler has changed from brief visitors to full-time summer residents.

“This behaviour change has resulted in many environmental, social, and economic impacts. With an increase in geese comes an increase in geese feces, which negatively impacts water quality, and fish and human health,” RMOW said.
RMOW is looking for a well-trained dog with a commitment of a minimum of three weekdays in the mornings or evenings throughout spring and summer for geese hazing. The dog will received free training and assessment session. Once the trainer approves the dog, the owner will join Whistler’s Geese Management Committee (GMC) and the dog will be approved to go off-leash at RMOW parks to deter geese
