In a press release, Whistler RCMP said the incident happened on May 21, just before 4 am, when officers responded to several calls of two drunk men causing a disturbance at a restaurant in the 4300 block of Lorimer Road. One of them had a pocketknife and was trying to give out drugs, police said. He was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose while the other man was held for being intoxicated in public.
Both have been released from police custody, but the first must appear in court for his weapon-related arrest.
On May 20, at about 9:40 pm, police also received a report from a restaurant in the 4300 block of Lorimer Road about a group of 10 youth disturbing staff and customers. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team was in the area and ensured the group left without further incident, Whistler RCMP said.
