The community is invited to be part of the 66th Loggers Sports Festival that takes place from August 3 to August 6. Tickets are on sale now for the festival, which brings in competitors and spectators from all over the world for the long weekend.
“As always we’re bringing back all the fun stuff you love on the BC Day Long Weekend, and we are sure will find something for yourself, and your friends and family,” says the Squamish Loggers Sports Festival. The festival is jampacked with fun events, from Kettle Boil Challenge and Lumberback Chili challenge to chair carving and the fast-paced and exciting bed races, followed by Axe throw competition, leading up to the Loggers Sports Festival on August 5 and 6.

Thursday, August 3
Kettle Boil Challenge
6:30pm- Squamish Valley Golf Course
This free event kicks off the Squamish Days weekend. Teams of two will race to see who can get their water can to boil over in the fastest time. It’s free to watch or if you want to enter the fee is $20. Cash prizes for the top 3 finishers. Stay for the Chili Challenge and great live music on the patio by Squamish’ own Leave of Absence.
Lumberjack Chili cook-off invitational
6:30pm Squamish Valley Golf Course
Select local restaurants have been invited to serve up some delicious chili to the crowd at the Kettle Boil. Throw down $5 (cash only) to be a taster and vote for your favourite; the chili with the most votes wins bragging rights.
Events for Friday, August 4
World Championship Chair Carve
3 pm to 5:30pm: Winnipeg Street at Cleveland Avenue (CORSA Cycles parking lot
A chair carving contest unique to Squamish in which chairs of all shapes and sizes are carved out of logs using chainsaws. Judging and auctioning of chairs takes place at approximately 5:00 pm.
Squamish Legion Bed Races
6 pm to 8 pm, Cleveland Avenue
A bed race consists of a bed on wheels with a 5-person team – 4 pushers and a rider. Each team must negotiate a 2-block course filled with obstacles and challenges. It’s fun, exciting and wacky.
Saturday, August 5
Kid’s festival
10 am to 12 pm: Junction Park in Downtown Squamish
Come and take part in the many activities including kids axe throw stations, face painting, Squamish circus performers, craft tables, learn about wildlife, a book giveaway, a storytime reading, music and bubbles and many more. Come back here for exact schedule and events closer to the event date.
Novice & intermediate loggers sports show

This is where competitors start in loggers sports. The show is fun and gives competitors a chance to test their skills and move up the ranks. Come and cheer them onto victory! Please leave your pets and coolers at home.
Sunday, August 6
The Squamish elks #119 peter harris pancake breakfast
8 am to 11 am: Chieftain Centre Mall

Bring your family, meet your friends, and start the day with a hearty logger-style breakfast. Enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk or chocolate milk. Come early to beat the crowds.
Festival parade by rcm – sar (station 4 squamish)
11 am: Cleveland Ave
Always a family favourite, the parade will begin at Vancouver Street, travel up Cleveland Avenue and end at Pemberton Avenue. Bring the family and enjoy the fun! Pets are sometimes spooked by sirens and musical instruments and may be more comfortable at home. The top 3 float winners, as selected by a panel of judges, will win a total of $1000 to award to local charities.
World class open loggers sports show
Doors 12 pm, Show 1 pm Al McIntosh Loggers Sports Grounds Kids & Seniors (6-12 or 60+) = $8
Kids 5+under = free
