This fire is suspected to be lightning caused. When lightning strikes an object, it can release enough heat to ignite a tree or other fuels. The fire is listed as Out of Control, which means a wildfire that is continuing to spread and is not responding to suppression efforts.

The BC Wildfire Service prioritizes responding to wildfires in the order of values at risk: human life and safety, property, areas with high environmental values (watersheds, habitat for species at risk, etc.)
