Whistler not-for-profit organizations presented to the Council on Tuesday during the Committee of the Whole session, each seeking to secure a portion of the $180,000 Community Enrichment Program (CEP) fund.
The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) annually supports local not-for-profit organizations and societies serving the community. To be eligible for a grant through the CEP, applicants must focus on one of the following areas: environment, social service, community service, recreation and sport, arts and culture.
During the meeting, the Council listened to the presentations for over two hours and reviewed the follow-up on the organizations’ applications. The applicants and their projects included the Mature Action Community (Whistler MAC), which sought funding to continue its meetups and seminars that unite local seniors.
The Whistler Naturalists also sought support in continuing their Fungus Among Us education and programming. At the same time, the Whistler Farmers’ Market had plans to reduce its environmental footprint and increase First Nations engagement, among other things.
The complete list of organizations and projects can be found on whistler.ca. The Council will announce the 2024 CEP funding recipients during the regular council meeting on Tuesday, April 23.
The funds will be distributed by the end of April 2024.
