April 10, 2024 9:35am

Victoria Police is asking for information after a fatal stabbing on Douglas Street in Downtown Victoria.

In a press release, Victoria Police said patrol officers rushed to the 2900 block of Douglas Street following a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with stab wounds. Despite immediate medical aid, the victim passed away due to his injuries.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) investigators are urging anyone with pertinent information to contact the VIIMCU Information Line at (250) 380-6211. They stress that this event appears to be an isolated occurrence, reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.

Details surrounding the case remain undisclosed as VIIMCU continues its investigation. On Wednesday morning, investigators were still at a mall near Douglas Street and Burnside Road.

“Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety,” the department added. “This file remains under investigation by VIIMCU and further details cannot be shared at this time.”
