Sea to Sky RCMP says they are seeing a spike in vehicle thefts throughout the corridor.
In the latest incident, on May 9, 2024, Sea to Sky RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle taken from a residential property in the Paradise Valley area. Police quickly responded and located the vehicle approximately 15 minutes after receiving the report in a rural location. Police arrested the two suspects located in the vehicle.
The female suspect was well known to the Sea to Sky RCMP—Squamish, and this was her fourth arrest for similar offences over the past few days. The suspects are held in custody and awaiting a court hearing.
“We know who these suspects and will continue to be vigilant in keeping our communities safe,” said Sgt. Dallas Langley, OPS NCO of the Sea to Sky RCMP – Squamish.
The Sea to Sky RCMP – Squamish would like to remind the public to review the following crime prevention tips and share them with others:
Always keep your vehicle locked and use an anti-theft device;
Do not keep spare keys in your vehicle;
Do not leave valuables and property in your vehicle, or in sight;
Wait for automatic gates to close behind you if you enter or leave a secure parking area;
Report suspicious persons or activity around vehicles to your local police.
