Whistler Blackcomb officially opens for summer operations this weekend. In a press release, the resort said it’s thrilled to welcome guests from the Sea to Sky Corridor, the Lower Mainland, across Canada, the U.S. and worldwide for another summer of incomparable mountain adventure experiences.
The fun starts Friday, May 17, with the opening of Whistler Mountain Bike Park for its 25th anniversary season. Locally known as “Whismas,” this highly anticipated event will feature exciting surprises and launch a season of events, activations, and unparalleled mountain biking that will continue through October.
This year, the newly upgraded Fitzsimmons Express chairlift will debut in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, boasting increased uphill capacity by accommodating riders and bikes on the same chair. Additionally, the Gatorade™ Skills Zone has received two new trails, allowing more opportunities for riders to hone their skills safely. Other highlights include the return of the Phat Wednesday race series and Crankworx Whistler – one of the world’s largest mountain bike festivals – taking center stage at WMBP from July 19 to 28.
“Our dedicated team has been busy preparing our expansive trail network throughout Whistler Mountain Bike Park for the past several weeks,” said Belinda Trembath, Chief Operating Officer at Whistler Blackcomb. “All that hard work is greatly appreciated as we welcome riders back for our 25thanniversary season to the world’s premier mountain biking destination, which we’re excited to share is fully operational for the first time since 2019.”
For guests looking for adventure beyond the bike park, there are plenty of other ways to experience the stunning natural beauty of Whistler Blackcomb, the press release states. The reimagined Summer Alpine Experience (formally the Summer 360 Sightsee Experience) opens to guests on Tuesday, May 21, via Blackcomb Gondola. It offers lift-accessed alpine adventures and activities on the mountain, including over 50km of hiking and trail running, mountaintop dining, sightseeing, special events, and more.
The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will start spinning for the summer on June 15, connecting Whistler and Blackcomb mountains and offering an even more expansive alpine experience. Peak Express is also targeting a June 15 opening, providing guests access to additional trails, the iconic Cloudraker Skybridge, and Raven’s Eye Lookout. Guests are reminded that all operating dates are subject to change.
Summer Alpine Experience Season Passes and single-day lift tickets are on sale now, with early-bird pricing available until June 16. Meanwhile, the mountain bike park Season Passes and single-day lift tickets are available for purchase, with early-bird pricing available until this Sunday, May 19.
