BC NDP has confirmed Jen Ford as the NDP candidate for the West Vancouver-Sea to Sky region.
A Resort Municipality of Whistler councillor since 2014, Jen Ford is also the board chair of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District and the past president of the Union of BC Municipalities. Ford studied Political Science at York University and completed a Graduate Certificate in Change Management from Royal Roads University in 2022.
“She is passionate about affordable housing, community building, primary care for an aging population, and accessible childcare. She lives in Whistler with her son, Ollie,” BC NDP said in a press release.
Ford said that as a local government leader in BC, she knows the difference good governance can make for communities and their residents. “Since 2017, our BC NDP team has been taking action for people and families all around the province; investing in housing people can afford, improving healthcare, increasing spaces for students and creating affordable childcare spaces — and there’s more to do. People can’t afford the reckless cuts John Rustad’s Conservative Party would bring,” she said.
Premier David Eby said Jen Ford’s deep understanding of local issues and her proven leadership and commitment to community service would make her an outstanding MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky. “I know she will be a strong voice for these communities, helping people find housing and connect to the services they need to build a life here.”
