The BC Wildfire Service is actively battling the Tiffen Creek wildfire, located 15 kilometres north of Lillooet. The fire, identified as K70591, has grown to 60 hectares but hasn’t increased in size since yesterday.

The wildfire is burning on a steep slope and exhibiting rank three fire behaviour, characterized by an organized flame front and a moderate rate of spread. The blaze is highly visible from Highway 99 and the towns of Lillooet and Pavilion.

The BC Wildfire Service has deployed two Initial Attack crews, one Unit Crew, a Response Officer, a helicopter, and air tankers to combat the fire. Fortunately, no structures are currently at risk.

The Tiffen Creek wildfire is suspected to be human-caused, though the specific circumstances remain under investigation. Wildfires of this nature can spread beyond their current perimeter or control lines, emphasizing the importance of ongoing vigilance and response efforts.
