On the evening of August 11, 2024, officers arrested Stephen Ernest Blackwater during proactive foot patrols in Whistler Village. This arrest followed reports of break-ins on August 10 and 11, during which investigators from two separate front-line policing teams worked to gather evidence at the crime scenes.
On August 12, 2024, Blackwater was formally charged with one break-and-enter count to commit an indictable offence. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2024.
“The safety and security of the businesses in our community are a priority for the Sea to Sky RCMP,” said Constable Katrina Boehmer, Media Relations Officer for Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP. “The officers’ dedication to investigating these incidents and locating a suspect was, without a doubt, key in preventing further incidents from occurring.”
