Canada Post has announced changes to postal services in Pemberton that will affect some residents as the community grows. A senior Canada Post official, Benjamin Berman recently wrote to the Village of Pemberton, outlining some of these changes.
With the demand for PO boxes at the Pemberton post office exceeding capacity and no room to expand, Canada Post plans to adjust service boundaries and introduce new community mailboxes (CMBs).

The upcoming changes will involve redrawing the postal box boundary to cover a smaller area and transitioning 70 addresses outside the new boundary into CMBs. These new addresses are in an industrial and commercial area far from the post office.
As part of the change, affected residents will be officially assigned their civic (9-1-1) addresses, linking their civic address to their new community mailbox. This update will enable residents to use their civic address to send and receive mail, online orders, and official documents.
There will be no changes to postal codes or the municipal mailing place name. Residents impacted by the changes will receive a notification letter at least 30 days before the implementation date, specifying their new civic mailing address and providing details on accessing their new CMB and obtaining keys.
Canada Post will offer free mail-forwarding services for one year, ensuring that any mail sent to former PO Box addresses will be redirected to the new CMB compartments. The new system is set to take effect on February 17, 2025, and aims to accommodate Pemberton’s growing postal needs while ensuring a smooth transition for affected residents, the official wrote.
