A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Metro Vancouver, the northern Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, and parts of the Sea-to-Sky Highway south of Whistler. The rain is expected to begin today and continue through Saturday, with the heaviest downpours likely on Saturday morning and early afternoon.

Rainfall amounts are forecasted to reach 40 to 70 mm in Metro Vancouver and near the mountains of the Fraser Valley, with some areas on the North Shore possibly seeing more than 100 mm. The Sea-to-Sky corridor could receive between 70 and 100 mm.
The storm is part of a robust fall system, bringing an atmospheric river to the region. The rain will intensify through Friday afternoon and evening before peaking on Saturday. It is expected to ease by Saturday evening, but more rain could return on Sunday.
Residents are advised to clear drains of leaves and secure loose items outdoors ahead of the storm. Drivers should be cautious as heavy rain may lead to water pooling on roads, swollen rivers and creeks, and minor coastal flooding in low-lying areas.
The public is encouraged to stay updated with advisories from the River Forecast Centre. If visibility is poor while driving, authorities recommend using headlights and keeping a safe distance from other vehicles.
