Village of Pemberton expands winter parking regulations

staff report
January 9, 2025 6:19am

The Village of Pemberton has expanded winter parking regulations to improve road safety and streamline snow removal efforts. The changes were adopted during a regular council meeting on December 10.

Under the newly updated bylaw, winter parking restrictions will apply 24 hours a day on the even-numbered side of streets during winter, replacing the previous overnight-only enforcement from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. The restrictions will be in effect annually from November 15 to March 31.

The Village stated that the expanded regulations aim to reduce obstructions for snow removal crews, allowing for more efficient clearing of roadways. In a notice, the Village said the changes will enhance safety by keeping streets accessible for residents, emergency vehicles, and essential services.

Parking signage across the Village has also been updated to reflect the new rules. Residents are reminded that vehicles, trailers, and other objects cannot be left on the even-numbered side of streets during the restricted period, except where traffic control devices permit.
