Whistler RCMP is seeking witnesses as it investigates the sudden death of a woman on Blackcomb Mountain after she was found unresponsive Thursday morning.

The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received a report of the incident just after 10 a.m. from the Whistler Blackcomb ski patrol. The woman was first spotted by an individual riding the Blackcomb Gondola, who alerted ski patrollers. Emergency responders located the woman and initiated life-saving measures before transporting her to the mountain base, where she was transferred to BC Ambulance Service.

She was pronounced dead at a local health clinic.

“We are deeply saddened by what transpired today,” said Whistler Blackcomb COO Belinda Trembath. “All of we feel incidents of this nature, and Whistler Blackcomb’s sympathy and support are with the guest’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP, in collaboration with the BC Coroners Service, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities are seeking witnesses who may have observed the incident. In a joint statement, Whistler Blackcomb and the RCMP said no further details would be released out of respect for those involved.
