The Village of Pemberton has started site clearing and is preparing to construct the parking lot for the multi-modal transportation hub.
The Regional Multi-Modal Transportation Hub will be located at Lot 13 on Pemberton Portage Road, to the east of Signal Hill Elementary School and will be available to commuters seven days a week, year-round.
The facility will include a 50-car parking lot, washrooms and changeroom facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, and covered bike storage. Safety fences have been installed around the site perimeter. These fences are crucial for public safety, and the Village is asking people not to enter the construction site.
The Multi-Modal Transportation Hub is funded through a $1.8M grant from the Rural and Northern Communities Fund. The project will cater to various commuter needs, offering amenities such as washroom and change room facilities, water fountains, bike storage, garbage receptacles, and groundwork for future EV charging stations.
“This central transportation hub will provide improved access to local and regional transit and rideshares for the Pemberton community. Users will be able to cycle, walk or drive to the Park and Ride and have access to a variety of transportation options all in one place,” said Mayor Mike Richman.
