The Resort Municipality of Whistler is set to unveil the nearly completed rejuvenation project at Rainbow Park, bringing exciting enhancements for residents and visitors alike. The transformation promises to deliver a more accessible, green, and enjoyable space for everyone, notes a post by RMOW.
Enhanced Beach and Dock Areas
Key highlights of the project include expanded and improved beach and dock areas. Visitors can look forward to a larger, more inviting beach with additional seating, picnic spots, and accessible pathways, including a paved path and a lift, ensuring ease of access to the new third centre dock.
New Amenities and Green Spaces
The park now boasts several new amenities to enhance the visitor experience, including increased seating and picnic areas to accommodate individuals and larger groups. It will also include extensive tree planting around the lawn and designated areas to provide shade and environmental benefits and a large shade structure offering relief from the sun.
Improved Facilities
According to RMOW, repositioning the beach volleyball area has made it more convenient and enjoyable while utilizing the park’s space better. Additionally, the main grass area has been raised to improve drainage and irrigation, protect the park from flooding events, ensure the lawn remains usable during high water levels, help disperse geese, and maintain lake views from the back of the lawn.
Starting Monday, July 15, Rainbow Park will also see the return of various food trucks offering delicious options such as crepes, gelato, pizza, and Whistler wieners.
“This project will allow for more visitors in the space while balancing the needs of the unique lakeside environment and the many different user groups. Join us this long weekend to celebrate Canada Day at Rainbow Park,” RMOW says.

Does it open for Canada Day long weekend, or does it open July 15th? They’re 2 weeks apart…
